Cabin Fever ​10K ​Snowshoe Race

Fresh Tracks Racing is hosting a 10K Snowshoe race on Saturday, March 21 in Waterville Valley to benefit YES. To receive a complimentary race entry for YES youth, please email [email protected].

The Course
The race course will take you on a 10 kilometer winter adventure around Waterville Valley’s cross-country skiing trails. These trails feature well-groomed surfaces, wide clearance (>6 feet), and moderate elevation gain. A map of the course will be released in January 2020 or earlier. This course may be adjusted depending on trail conditions on the day of the race. If any changes are made to the course on this condition the relative location, distance, elevation will remain the same.

Register before February 1st and get a custom performance winter beanie when you check-in on race day. These beanies can be purchased on the registration page and on the Fresh Tracks website after February 1st as well as on race day. More SWAG! can be had from the post-race raffle!

Rental and Discount Snowshoes
All registered participants receive a 20% discount on Northern Lites Snowshoes! Northern Lites snowshoes will also be available to rent for $5. Please let Fresh Tracks know that you’d like to rent ahead of time so they can make sure to have enough snowshoes in stock.

The race will start from Waterville Valley Town Square at: 33 Village Rd, Waterville Valley, NH. Look for signs directing you to check-in.

Race Day Schedule

Allowed Traction Devices
Snowshoes are required for all participants unless otherwise specified before the event. IF conditions are very firm and do not present a danger of post-holing Fresh Tracks may allow alternative traction such as micro-spikes. They will announce this the week before the event and will confirm it on race day. If you want to prepare well for the race they recommend practicing with both snowshoes and micro-spikes in appropriate conditions. Poles are allowed as long as they have appropriate baskets.

Prizes and Results
Race results will be available at the finish line and posted online soon after the event. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd female and male overall,
  • 1st female and male in the following age groups: under 18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over.

Following the race, between 4:45 PM and 6:30 PM, Fresh Tracks will gather indoors at Waterville Valley’s Town Square for warm refreshments, snacks, awards, and a prize raffle for all participants. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. A raffle will be open to all racers and spectators and proceeds from the raffle will be donated to YES. Each racer will receive a raffle ticket upon check-in. Additional tickets are $1 for 1 and $5 for 10. Raffle prizes will be announced!

Aid Stations
Aid stations with water, a sports drink, and nutrition (gel or bar) will be provided for racers at the start/finish line and approximately at the halfway point on course. Fresh Tracks will share the exact location on course before the race. They ask that participants bring a portable cup or bottle with them to use at these aid stations. Cups will be available at aid stations upon request.

Bad Weather
In the event of poor weather the show will go on! In the event of EXTREME weather such as whiteout , high winds, heavy precipitation, or otherwise dangerous conditions, Fresh Tracks will reschedule for another date
