YES engages Strategic Partners during the school year in a weekly or bi-weekly program model in Fall, Winter and Spring seasons from September to June . The program recruits 9-10 youth from a middle or high school and one teacher or administrator chaperone to participate in adventure programming during a ~3 hour block of the school day or after school.
The following are program goals for youth:
- build confidence by gaining sport-specific skills while participating in activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, downhill skiing/snowboarding and cross-country skiing with professional instructors
- experience new places and activities that are not readily available to most Boston youth
- become a strong steward for natural places in and around Boston neighborhoods
- seek deeper involvement in YES programs like YES Academy
