The YES Experience

YES Kids begin their Operation SnowSports Adventure in the YES office and rental shop the week before their first trip. YES’s interactive orientation teaches everyone how to stay warm, dry, and safe on the slopes. Then youth are teamed up with a volunteer navigator who leads them through the exciting ski or snowboard fitting process where they learn how to independently put on and carry their equipment all by themselves. On trip day, youth arrive at the YES office early in the morning to meet instructors and classmates.  At the mountain, youth participate in a morning lesson, break for lunch, and ski or snowboard all afternoon. The return bus ride is a time to relax with new friends, reflect on the challenges they have overcome and dream about their next YES Adventure!

Operation SnowSports Program

Operation SnowSports serves youth ages 7-18

YES Snowboarder Operation SnowSports 1Operation SnowSports provides youth with the opportunity to ski and snowboard during the winter months. Each year, YES takes more than 800 youth downhill skiing and snowboarding from December through April. The young people are enrolled as YES Kids or from collaborating agencies. Through donations, fundraising events, and partnerships, YES keeps expenses to a minimum and provides programming that is affordable and accessible to everyone. In this way, YES encourages youth to not only learn and experience this new adventure and sport, but also to participate in other YES programs and develop lifelong relationships with mentors and peers. Youth are encouraged to join at any stage in their skill development.
