Registration is now closed for the 2017 Outdoor Adventure program.
Applications will be available for the 2018 Outdoor Adventure program in April 2018.
Ages: Youth between 9 and 12 years of age
Weeks 1 and 2: Boston Adventures and Activities
The program will run from 8:30am to 4:00pm. YES is open for drop off at 8:30 am.
During the first two weeks of this session, youth are introduced to 5 different recreational activities and learn how to care for and respect the great outdoors. This program will challenge participants with new experiences, expose them to the natural world in and around Boston.
Schedule: Weekdays 8:30am – 4:00pm with Activities Including:
Fishing and swimming at Jamaica Pond or Houghton Pond
Rock climbing at Quincy Quarries or Hammond Pond
Kayaking on the Charles River
Paddleboarding at Carson Beach
Biking and hiking at Wompatuck State Park
Golfing at Owl’s Nest Golf Club
Week 3: Optional Berkshire Overnight Adventures and Activities
*Note: This third week is optional for the first session. You may choose to only participate in the first two weeks of day camp without the overnight component.
Berkshire Forest Explorers is a week-long overnight adventure at YES’s historic Swann Lodge. Young people build character and learn environmental stewardship as they hike, paddle and explore the natural beauty of Berkshires.
Monday-Friday: At the Swann Lodge with activities. Meet Monday at 8:30am at the YES Office.
Friday: Youth to be picked up from YES at 4PM by parents.
Daily activities may include:
Fishing and Canoeing at Benedict Pond
Shelter Building at Swann Lodge
Rock Climbing in the Berkshires
Hiking and Navigation at Swann Lodge
Exploration at Bash Bish Falls
