More than 500 guests joined to celebrate and support YES at the 5th Annual Black Diamond Gala
Youth Enrichment Services hosted its 5th Annual Black Diamond Gala on Thursday April 2, 2015. Over 500 people attended the event in support of YES’s mission to provide Boston’s inner-city youth with year-round outdoor enrichment and leadership programs.
The event raised more than $500,000 – nearly doubling the $300,000 in funds raised at last year’s gala. Funds will directly support YES’s outdoor sports and leadership programs
A highlight from the evening was the two speeches given by YES youth, Jordan Levitch and Stephany Caban. Stephany, a 16 year old Dorchester native and YES Junior Volunteer, spoke about the impact that YES has had on her life. Stephany told the crowd, “As you know, life is set on an uneven playing field. YES helped me even that playing field.” 16 year old Jordan, who has participated in YES’s Junior Volunteer and College Preparation programs shared, “I know that at YES I have a constant group of people that have my back and want the best for me.” Both Stephany and Jordon plan to continue participating in YES programs as they finish high school and prepare for college.
