The Youth Enrichment Services (YES) Director of Impact and YES Academy, Shiona DeCarvalho, has been selected to receive The Massachusetts Promise Fellowship’s 2019 Red Wagon Award. This award is presented annually to an individual who supports the development of emerging leaders, acts as a role model for the Mass Promise Fellowship community, and advocates for young people. The award will be presented at Pass the Wagon, The Mass Promise Fellowship’s 20th birthday to celebrate two decades of hard work and young people, on Tuesday, April 23 at the Northeastern University Fenway Center.
At YES, Mass Promise Fellows spend their service year coordinating and expanding YES’s College Prep Program, providing YES teens with access to college resources every year. The YES College Prep program includes a year-long College Prep Program, a four-year College Cohort program, and two annual week-long College Tours. Shiona has been pivotal in the supervision and development of the Massachusetts Promise Fellow during their year at YES.
