This winter, YES Marathon runners Jaime and Kelly began a journey they would never forget. They decided to run their first marathon, the Boston Marathon, for YES.
For Jaime and Kelly, training and running the Boston Marathon was an incredibly rewarding, albeit challenging process. Upon completing the Marathon, Kelly shared with YES, ” I was struggling at mile 22 and a man from the Martin Richards team asked me if I was running for YES. I said I was and he went on to tell me how his kids are involved with YES and how much they love the program and Bryan. Hearing that really gave me the boost I needed to keep going.” Kelly overcame the rough patch with high spirits and successfully completed all 26.2 miles with the support of fellow athletes and her family.
YES Marathoner Jaime came up from Washington DC to run the Boston Marathon for YES. New to the organization, Jaime was enthusiastic about raising money to support youth enrichment programming. After finishing the Marathon, Jaime exuded,”YES and Boston will always have a special place in my heart.”
YES Executive Director Bryan was deeply appreciative of the two marathoners, stating, “We are incredibly proud of Kelly and Jaime. Their hard work and effort sets a great example for our youth- showing them that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to.”
