Youth Enrichment Services (YES) recently received a Community Impact Grant from Eversource. The company’s Charitable Contributions program awards grants to nonprofit organizations focused on the health and well-being of youth.
“We rely heavily on donations from companies like Eversource, as well as from individuals, to serve 1,600 young people every year,” says YES Executive Director, Bryan Van Dorpe. This summer, over 500 youth and teens participated in YES’s Outdoor Adventure and Leadership Corps programs. Young people experienced the outdoors, gained confidence, and developed leadership skills. Summer activities included track and field, rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, and outdoor explorations at YES’s Swann Lodge in the Berkshires. Fall outdoor programs begin in October and the winter snowsports program begins in January.
The Community Impact Grant is a special one for Eversource Community Relations Representative, John Hoey, who presented the check to YES. John is a YES alumni and recalls participating in the ski program when he was a child. “I’ve seen first-hand the great impact YES leaders have on the kids who participate,” says Hoey. “It’s an honor to give back to them today.”
